Elementome of Endemic Dolomitic Flora: Pterocephalus spathulatus (Lag.) Coult

نویسندگان

چکیده

Unusual dolomite substrates present a phenomenon known as dolomitophily, which refers to the specificity of flora that grows on them. Within dolomitic flora, one most widespread plants in Spain is characteristic species Pterocephalus spathulatus (Lag.) Coult., forms whitish prostrate thymes. The study focused knowledge about ionome (or elementome) and some its applications, both terms nutritional behaviour determining factors favour rich rare growing soils. Soil, foliar, stem root samples studied were collected from different locations south Spain. analysed determine their mineral composition. Bioconcentration Factor (BCF) Translocation (TF) calculated, relating values contents soil, total phytoavailable, samples. It was found this able accumulate elements, including B, Cr, Cu, Ni, Ti, Tl Zn, can be phytotoxic high concentrations, are considered main toxic metals In addition, it observed plant leaves (TF), thus proving capable transporting them aerial part plant. data obtained may indicate other community possess bioindicator or even phytoremediation capacity.

Future of Endemic Flora of Biodiversity Hotspots in India

India is one of the 12 mega biodiversity countries of the world, which represents 11% of world's flora in about 2.4% of global land mass. Approximately 28% of the total Indian flora and 33% of angiosperms occurring in India are endemic. Higher human population density in biodiversity hotspots in India puts undue pressure on these sensitive eco-regions. In the present study, we predict the futur...

Climate Change and the Future of California's Endemic Flora

The flora of California, a global biodiversity hotspot, includes 2387 endemic plant taxa. With anticipated climate change, we project that up to 66% will experience >80% reductions in range size within a century. These results are comparable with other studies of fewer species or just samples of a region's endemics. Projected reductions depend on the magnitude of future emissions and on the abi...

Climate threat on the Macaronesian endemic bryophyte flora

Oceanic islands are of fundamental importance for the conservation of biodiversity because they exhibit high endemism rates coupled with fast extinction rates. Nowhere in Europe is this pattern more conspicuous than in the Macaronesian biogeographic region. A large network of protected areas within the region has been developed, but the question of whether these areas will still be climatically...

Effect of SO2 Dry Deposition on Porous Dolomitic Limestones

The present study is concerned with the assessment of the relative resistance of a monumental dolomitic limestone (Laspra – Spain) used as building material in stone monuments and submitted to artificial ageing by SO2 dry deposition in the presence of humidity. To investigate the protection efficiency of different polymeric coatings, three commercially available siloxane-based oligomers (Lotexa...
